Today an HBOS manager and some of his associates have been found guilty of fraud which cost small firms £280m and in some cases cost livelihoods and entire businesses.

This was nothing like the city , derivatives trading, etc.
When small firms hit problems and the HBOS guy was their bank manager he insisted they dealt with a consultancy who would turn them around. Instead they stripped their clients assets and led to them shutting down. The consultants bribed hi to do this and lived the high life off the proceeds.
PE was on about it before HBOS admiited there was a problem and the police went in.

I seem to recall a programme a while ago about other banks doing a similar thing, but completely legally.
They agreed loans with small businesses, then called them in early and repossessed their properties and assets, making fortunes by destroying their customers' lives.
