Yes of course
A deluge of independents...
Galloway will lose his seat in the next election, and there would be extremely long odds against any independent succeeding.
It's a point well made that the guy who came second based his approach on doing things that would actually help a pretty poor and neglected area. Good for him.

You have to admire how Labour disqualified its own candidate for making comments critical of Israel, and then Rochdale elects the politician most critical of Israel.

How much time will Galloway spend in the Rochdale area in the next few months? Something tells me he’ll instantly forget it exists.

Re: The George Galloway 'conspiracy'
When the likes of Khan and Galloway get voted in, it really underpins what a fucking state the country is in, despite that the Galloway vote was a massive piss take. When the voting gets serious, voting for independents is a wasted vote.

+1
Especially if the public were fully aware of Khan's past...
As a lawyer, he represented the Nation of Islam leader, Louis Farrakhan. He defended Al Qaeda operative Zacarias Moussaoui, he's a close friend to Taliban supporting Babar Ahmed, who he visited in jail, and Ahmed's sister confirmed Khan had been a great support to her brother since his arrest.
Hardly associates that a Mayor of London, should be seen to support.

Solicitors working on defence cases carry unenviable work representing clients, but the law stipulates that all sides in trial are entitled to representation. That Sadiq Khan represented such individuals as part of his job isn't a determinant factor in his suitability as a politican.chelseachelsea wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 1:50 pm+1

You missed out the part about his close friendship to a Taliban supporter.

Re: The George Galloway 'conspiracy'
Sadiq Khan and Babar Ahmad may well have had mutual family friends in the Pakistani community of Tooting and also may well have known each other from a young age. But Babar Ahmad's trajectory in life and Sadiq's are mutually exclusive even though Sadiq Khan as Babar Ahmad's constituency MP campaigned for the latter's legal trials to be held in the UK instead of the USA. An MP has the right to help a constituent where required.chelseachelsea wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 2:10 pmI know that, and did you mean Politician? The Tick wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 1:57 pmSolicitors working on defence cases carry unenviable work representing clients, but the law stipulates that all sides in trial are entitled to representation. You missed out the part about his close friendship to a Taliban supporter.
Your use of the term friends when describing Sadiq Khan and Babar Ahmad is intentionally fashioned to imply some sort of connivance between the two for the purpose of jihadism. There's no factual information to back that up.

Being Galloway's lawyer must be like being Trump's.
You'd be sitting there looking at them and thinking "are you for real?"
