The 'Christian' defence, for want of a better word, is, IMO only of course, the last resort of lawyers when they have run out of anything other reason.

One of the consequences of brexit is that the UK is now more reliant on non-EU foreign labour, as British people didn't swoop in for the jobs that they'd always resented the EU foreign labour for previously taking.

So emigration from non-EU nations, whether by legal process or not, is rising to try and fill the labour gap created by brexit.
