Wigan Athletic are giving up their biggest stand(East Stand) to facilitate ManUre fans.....
The regulars are not happy and feel let down by the billionaire owner, but when it comes to money or loyal fans, money wins every time.
Another pisser is the game has been selected by ITV...Monday night 8.15 kick off.

Hoping for a decent FA Cup run for a change. Boro will have a eye on the Carabao semi final so will be resting a few of their players, we’ve got a light month before challenging again at the top so looking to rest the likes of Luiz, Watkins, Torres and a few others. May be a good match on Saturday.

Shocker of a red card last night. Just look at the reaction of all the players to that challenge. None of them batted an eyelid.

Re: FA Cup 23/24
It was a nailed on red. Leg extended to the extent he was nearly sitting on the ball. If you want to cut out over the top challenges that could lead to serious injuries, then you need to deter players from challenging opponents like that. The problem was again, that the referee had to be called to the screen. These wankers need to start taking their interpretation, control and authority back and have the balls to make their own decisions.
BTW the fact that there was no injury is irrelevant.

The problem is, I’ve seen worse challenges than that go totally unpunished.Zambo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2024 4:31 pm It was a nailed on red. Leg extended to the extent he was nearly sitting on the ball. Just watched it again. None of the Palace players reacted as if that was a bad tackle. Nor did the Ref for that matter. It was a particularly clumsy tackle either really. It wasn’t aggressive or with excessive force. If Calvert-Lewin went in with his foot flat, he’d most likely do himself a really nasty injury.
Problem now is, like all these VAR decisions, they’ve now set a precedent into what decision should be made. Gone are the days when a Referee was allowed to use common sense.
Handball is now anyone’s guess, my own teams captain decided play basketball the other week, but that fortunately went unpunished. But yet some unsuspecting defender will give away a penalty when the ball is blasted at them from less than a metre away.
Part of the problem is that Sky/BT/BBC/ITV all used slo-motion replays and computer wizardry to insist the decision was wrong. Now the Refs are using the same techniques, the tv companies are up in arms about it.
The games gone.

Agree the games gone and probably too far to reverse it all.

I’m not having it as a nailed on red mate. We all know what dangerous, or serious foul, play looks like and that wasn’t it.Zambo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2024 4:31 pm It was a nailed on red. But your second point is bang on. It’s a pathetic spectacle watching them actively avoiding making a decision in the hope that VAR will do it for them.
Similarly, the blowing for a foul as soon as an attacker so much as glances at a goalkeeper. Terrified that a goal might be scored and they’ve missed something in the build up. Far easier just to blow for a foul on the goalie and avoid the possibility all together.

Some stills and video here. Studs up pretty high and players have got to stop making challenges like this imo. Clubs have got a responsibility to wipe it or if they don't dock points until they do. Players get keyed up, they are coached to give 100%, they just need to channel their energy away from making reckless challenges.

Liverpool 1-0
Arsenal only have themselves to blame, they have squandered a hat full.
