The serious injuries in football thread

Post by kancutlawns »

Buendia, Mings for Villa, Militao and Timber with ACL injuries in the first week of the season.

This is what you’re going to get you cunts at FIFA, UEFA and the EPL and other European leagues when you treat players as horses. Expect worse in the coming years.

I read about Courtois today, slightly comical a GK getting that sort of injury considering they do so little running. Still clubs doing a preseason in the U.S for commercial reasons on rock hard or pudding grid iron pitches isn't going to help.

Dave Beasant famously injured himself by dropping a bottle of salad cream on his foot.

They’re well paid horses . That’s why clubs have large squads to rotate players

Nathan Ferguson is well on the way to becoming the new Connor Whickham.

Signed to be a first-choice defender, he has made one appearance (as an 82nd minute sub) in three seasons. Currently injured at the start of his fourth.

Makes me laugh when people talk about overworked players. The average salary in the Premier League is around £60k per week, but obviously there are many players on a lot more. Including training they are on their feet for around 14 hours per week, so at 60 grand that's approaching 4.5 k an hour. On match days, players go through lengthy periods trotting around making sideways and backwards 5 or 10 metre passes. So to say they are overworked is laughable.

If they want to reduce non contact injuries, then they should be concentrating on matchday warm ups and warm downs. Of course even with a faultless training regime, you are still going to get some tears and pulls, but that's just part if the game and always has been. It's not just changed overnight.

We bought Tyler Robers from Leeds who hadn't completed a pre season for 6 seasons because of injury. He now has a groin injury and pulled a calf muscle during last Fridays training session. wtf were we doing taking a chance on someone like that.

What they get paid is quite irrelevant, what the injuries cost the club on the other hand. Check out the first few paragraphs and my beloved clubs injury stats from last year...

Very impressive, just waiting for someone to say it was Chelsea's fault, because of the amount we paid for Enzo
