TV. "Surgeons: At the Edge of Life "

Nine years ago I had to undergo an operation. I knew then it was serious, but afterwards I found out it really was a life saver. The surgeons told me what they did but it was difficult to appreciate without having medical knowledge.

Now, on Wednesday night, BBC2 at 9-00 pm I can watch exactly what they did as the same operation is shown. All the family and friends will be glued to the TV to see what all the fuss was about.
It will either be fascinating or sickening.

Sounds very similar to the 80s show Your Life In Their Hands (or, as my dad used to refer to it, Their Knife In Your Glands  )

i'm proud to boast that it was the largest that the surgeons had come across.

Glad it worked out well for you. Had a friend who's burst and she died in a matter of minutes. Scary stuff.

That is what they told me. Afterwards! If it bursts and you aren't almost in the operating theatre your chances of survival are just about nil.

If you can feel a pulse when you press your hand on your stomach then it's worthy mentioning it to a doctor.

In other news: I remember the original "Your Life in Their Hands" way back in the 60s, on a b&w telly. What surprised me was the difference between the clean diagrams in my biology textbooks and the mess that exists in real-life :-)

Bump. VV, there is another series on C5 called 'Surgeons: A Matter of Life or Death' on Thursdays.

Last Thursdays and repeated tonight at 11.50pm featured someone with a 'massive' aortic aneurysm. Also on my5: https://www.channel5.com/show/surgeons- ... /episode-5

My sister watched and said it's up to me if I want to, as had surgery on a dissected aorta in April. Plus a fasciotomy and then a stroke for a triple whammy. :)

This latest programme.
The woman had a more complicated problem than I had. Smaller but in a nasty place up near the lungs and heart. Tricker for the surgeons.
