For me music died in 1987 with the arrival of Stock,Aitken and Waterman and their factory of fluff artists . They were the musical equivalent
of Sports Direct.

Yeah, nothing screams fun more than a 10 minute drum solo or Rick Wakeman dicking about on a bank of 24 keyboards.

Glam I'll give you but prog rock is the worst of the worst, thank fuck punk came along
I have greatest respect for Rugby Union, they started it mid-way through the 19th century. Thankfully we grabbed it and turned it into a spectacle on 29th August 1895

There's always been proper musicians and shit musicians, with the latter frequently being more popular. This will continue until the end of the world. Commodity stuff always sells more in any business.

It's irrelevant whether you are a proper musician or not - who decrees what constitutes a proper musician? Mark Knopfler might be an accomplished and technically superb guitarist but I'd probably prefer to hear someone banging out a simple three chord number with real energy and enthusiasm.

And if you put the right three chords in the right order you can make as brilliant a piece of music as anything that involves complex chordal patterns and fancy key changes.

Nash was alright "back in the day" until she dyed her hair black and started yelling about muh feminism, and like, 'cos I'm like, bi-sexual. I still enjoy listening to her early stuff, though. The song 'Mariella' is wonderful.

Thought it was Bjork till she got more Mockney.

That is fucking mental.
20 minutes of the same chord is some achievement.
But if your off your tits it'll fly by.

It's great, m4rk. Jonny Mattock, the drummer deserves a medal for that. Sonic, live after Spacemen 3 still used to tape down keys and fuck off the stage. Always good. :)

I like to give credit where it's due and that's definitely one unique composition by the band itself and not from another pop production line - which is where all this shit is coming from.

One chord for 20 mins definitely requires some fine support from the rest of the band

True, m4rk, though it is old, Just added it because if Lou mentioning chords and I love to shoehorn Spacemen 3 into music threads. ;)

Look them up, only four studio albums, all different and brilliant, and some live and demo stuff about. Not sure if good or bad that the excellent 'Big City' was on 'The Simpson's': :?

Anyway, got a stupidly early start and need to sleep. Night.

Just listened to the first two Buffalo Springfield albums properly for the first time.

At least half of each is very good.
