All sorts of excuses are being made in defence of Paul Pogba. Excuses such as Pogba being an attacking midfield player or he needs two central midfielders behind him etc etc. Lets be honest here - Is Pogba as an attacking midfielder anywhere near as good as say an Aimar, Beardsley, Iniesta, Kaka (at Milan 2003-2007), Coutinho, Nedved, Del Piero, Figo etc etc ?
I don't think so! And Nowhere near good enough!
I'd go as far as to say that Ian Woan who was at Nottingham Forest was far better in an attacking sense than Pogba.
He certainly has a physical prescence and reminds me alot of the big kid at junior school who'd get through a defensive formation through sheer power and brawn. There is an enormous amount of hype regarding Pogba. As Eamon Dunphy states that his occasional 40 yard passes like lasers look better than they really are. These things are enormously glossed over and hyped up by his supporters.
He doesn't have a footballing brain and at this stage in his career- im not sure this can be really coached into him. The thing about Pogba is that he has a really bad negative influence as his agent and that is very overwhelming. The agent really bigs up Pogbas ego and with the massive price tag and wages - Pogba thinks he is the real deal. Mourinho is facing a losing battle with Pogba because if anything Pogba is not a Manchester United player playing under Jose Mourinho as a manager. The reality is Paul Pogba is mercenary playing for and under the control of Mina Raiola and because of this Pogba feels he can strut around the pitch giving minimal effort and without any discipline.
In many ways he reminds me of Mario Balotelli - overhyped and very little quality combined with huge ego and arrogance.
