What's the difference bearing in mind his case still hasn't been resolved?

Timing I thinkTennisman ,they are hoping that the case will be resolved in his favour while he is over there playing for a club side.If so they will play him.
Quite how he was allowed to leave Britain is another story.

Thanks Del and good point.

Can't see why the CPS are taking so long. Yes, there may have been mitigations for his reasons, if the defence of homophobic abuse is true, yeah.

There is no mitigations for his actions, as per, after the initial rumble, the other fella was hands up defensive in a calming manner when hit, as was his mate who Stokes went for after. Stokes' own buddy did little bar calling his name to stop him. Clearly ABH and lucky the guy didn't smash his head on the road.

Stokes as the homosexualists saviour?

Hang the ging cunt for being a piss poor drunk as with the Pricey and Harvey video.

If we're going to accept the Ashes as the pinnacle of all cricket and want to place that way above everything else, then let's use the Kookaburra ball in domestic and international cricket in England. Move the T20s to autumn and play 4 day cricket in June/July/August. Get all young bowlers to play mandatory seasons in Australia every winter to best adapt to their conditions.

A lot of other aspects of the national game might suffer, but if that single series every four years in Australia is truly that important, these are probably the things we would need to seriously consider doing.

Agree with pretty much all of this. We can't harp on about how vital this series is then not prepare as best we can for it.

Oh come on, Lou is being irrational in his over defence of the team.

You can’t do stupid things like move T20 to the Autumn unless your intentions are to bankrupt most of the counties. You don’t prepare just for The Ashes in Australia every 4 years.

It’s clear we were under prepared and badly managed so surely there are enough brains at the ECB to form a plan that has some sense about it and not nonsensical.

Why wait that long. Get rid now.

http://www.skysports.com/cricket/news/1 ... head-coach

"I've never been anywhere any more than four or five years. Whether you're going well or not I've always felt that round about that four-year mark is time to change."

In other words I'm going before they find the guts to get rid.

"The captain is in charge, but we're there to help out".

So exactly how do you do that. What sort of help are you providing, only it's not very evident.

Agreed.

Get someone new in place now with plenty of time to prepare for next Ashes in Summer 2019

Yeah I've decided to go at the end of my contract despite a disastrous Ashes of which I carry no responsibility for.
Bit different from Footie eh.
Bin him get someone that is hungry and will take responsibility .
England will at least fight and play better.
Push the boat out for Jason Gillespie who would fit the bill :!:

ECB logic

Stokes banned for playing in Ashes when no charges were actually brought.

Now that he's been formally charged, he's available to play in NZ tour.

Does cricket actually qualify as a sport?

My cricket knowledge is only ten times better than a Scotch midget's football knowledge.
It really is that limited.

It is the 2nd largest global sport behind football. So I suppose if like tS you only consider sport to mean football then no it is not a sport.

Not far off, but basketball beats it and according to some listers tennis does as well.

But it's a huge global sport all the same.

It reaches a relatively small number of countries globally, but where it is dominant as in Asia these are countries with massive populations.

India, Pakistan and Bangladesh between them have a population of over 1.5 billion. That's nearly a quarter of the world's total.
