He could take no wickets, get 2 ducks and there still wouldn't be the tiniest question mark over his selection for the winter. Baffling.

Fucking hell, obsessed, much?
The guy has nearly 400 Test wickets - you do know that, right?

Glenn Mcgrath's taken 563, should he be picked ?

He's over the hill and declining rapidly

Current series he's averaging over 41. Anderson 19, Roland Jones 13.

Averaged 32 against S Africa, Anderson was 14, Roland Jones 22. His average was worse than any of their bowlers

He's not worth his place in the team on current form, no doubt he'll have one of his ever rarer good spells in Oz, take 6 for 40 and his fan boys will be claiming they were right all along.

Great spell of bowling by Stokes, and that's about it really. Except for Broad taking another shedload of wickets, oh wait a minute. :D

2 and 3 fail again, and another very helpful track for the bowlers, plenty of swing and the ball seaming all over the shop.

Wow, the forum's resident England fans are in full voice. It seems that you get more pleasure from certain England players performing badly than you do when the team plays well…

And you appear to get more pleasure from imagining there's nowt wrong with them, and they should all be picked on past performances and reputation rather than current form and ability.

You'd rather have an untried bowler thrown into the lions' den in Australia rather than someone with a proven track record. OK...

Unbeaten 51 run stand for the sixth wicket taking England within 24 runs of the Windies. This could actually be a match winning stand.

According to Magoo, the ball that dismissed Bairstow came straight off his bat. As it turns out, he was plumb LBW. The gravelly voiced pisspot can't retire soon enough.

Broad currently on 32 not out, the second-highest scorer in England's first innings \:D/

In a low scoring game, they are valuable runs. If you want England to win, you'd probably be glad the tail has wagged.

So when he doesn't score runs, you give him pelters; when he does, it's no big deal.
Glad that we have two such erudite critics in this 'ere bailwick
