[quote="Steve Hunt"]Del, I think you will win the Europa League.
But why aren't United bringing players up from the academy anymore?
God knows I hate Levy, but to his credit, Spurs have invested in and promoted academy players while adding other young players to their squad.
Kane, Rose and Winks are academy examples. Walker, Eriksen and Alli young, low cost incomers.
There's more to come, too. Marcus Edwards, Shaylon Harrison and Cameron Carter-Vickers are the ones to watch over the next few years.
By contrast United have shelled out on Pogba & Zlatan.
We both know that is not Mourinho's way .His hand will be forced shortly because of their extensive injury list and two or three will get a game.
Then they will go out on loan next season to get regular first team football and come back ready to fight for a first team place.

Fosu -Mensah has had a few games. Tuanzebe has been on the bench regularly and has had a few minutes. Willock was on the bench a fortnight ago and McTominey on the bench against Citteh. Pereria is in injured but is 3 rd choice keeper.
Other reserves are Riley and Olosunde on the verge of call ups.
In the under 18 's the two talked about are Gribbin and Chong.
Rashford and Martial are young first teamers

The bigger clubs attract the best, but then are dumped unless they are something really special, and the big transfers happen instead of bringing the kids through. It's sad that money comes before anything in football these days instead of putting in some work to develop the youngsters.

Because Levy is such a tight arse, that isn't actually the case at Spurs, Zambo.
Mind you, if he had spent a few bob, we might have been able to seriously challenge Chelsea

Agreed Zam ,but the Giggs,Nevilles Scholes Beckham and Butt group were a one off even more so once the premier league took off.
The prizes now deemed too important to take chances with youngsters.
Sky lumping more doh in has made it even worse.
Tried and tested predominately foreign is the way for the clubs.
Sad ,and it ain't going to get any better.
Spurs doing their best to buck that trend at the moment but if results went the other way they would be quick in reverting to type

The Guardian reports that the Old Trafford club will pay the Glazer family - who own the club - £18m in dividends for this year.
That is on the back of a £15m payment last year.

Whatever happened to the yellow and green scarf protest against the Glazers that was so popular during Sir Alex's reign? Has that just died a death? I suppose the money raked in from the floatation on NASDAQ, the kit sponsorship deal, huge new TV deal and club sponsorship to buy Pogba and Ibrahimovic makes them somewhat more palatable? Do the fans still have contempt for the Glazers?

The Glaziers like other owners are not in it for the love of football. They are looking to maximise their investment take lots of profit and eventually sell the club.

How many seasons of mediocrity and failing to make top 4 before the 'one of biggest clubs in the world' tagline no longer applies?

I can't remember, apart from the club I support of course, wanting a team to beat another as much as I want Ajax to beat United.

Man U will win it, though, Monello.
For all his faults, Jose knows how to win trophies, particularly in cup competitions.
I'd be amazed if Ajax win it.
