They were paying Schweinsteiger £250k a week and he's not scored goals in 2 cup finals in the last year. He'd have got that elsewhere if he moved on. He might still do that, but it means United will get a decent fee.
But why aren't United bringing players up from the academy anymore?
God knows I hate Levy, but to his credit, Spurs have invested in and promoted academy players while adding other young players to their squad.
Kane, Rose and Winks are academy examples. Walker, Eriksen and Alli young, low cost incomers.
There's more to come, too. Marcus Edwards, Shaylon Harrison and Cameron Carter-Vickers are the ones to watch over the next few years.
