Manchester United 2016-2017

Post by delboy1983 »

Certainly at the beginning of Mourinho's reign the support will dictate that United will play a more attractive type football.
At the beginning youngsters will again be given the chance to shine.
There's talk of Gary Neville and Brian Kidd joining the backroom staff which will please the fans..

However if results are poor Mourinho will put plan B into action very quickly and revert to type to get the points.

Everyone expects Mata to be the first player out of the door, not so sure of that ,think he will find a first team place for him.

Looking forward to new centre half , new midfield holding player and a new striker, the return of Luke Shaw and Rooney in midfield

Nor an "Official League Title Winners" season either by the looks of it :)
Alex Young, Howard Kendall, Andy King, Timmy Cahill, Dixie Dean and Mike Parry.....we'll never see the likes of them again.

Well, they've got few outside London and South Korea as it is.

Hoping Paddy or whoever comes out with a 'do the same/worse than LVG' bet.

It'll depend on who he signs I suppose, but their squad is not great.

Smalling, Carrick, Rooney, Memphis, Mata, Felliani, Darmian?

Chelsea will be back, Arsenal will buy players, Spurs strengthen, City with a new manager too and Klopp raiding the German talent for Liverpool. Plus of course Leicester, Soton, and Wet Spam. Maybe ol' Pet's boys as well if they get their act together.

Top four possibly, but they'll not win the league.

Mourinho will have been that confident of getting this job he will have been on the case since Chelsea sacked him.
He will know he will get rid off
He will want to see a few to see if he can mould them to suit his way of playing
He has a 200m net war chest to spend in the summer with no inside interference
He will know who he is after and also 2nd 3rd choices if required

No doubt there will be a major clear out.

LVG men will be moved on - Darmian,Romero Blind Fellaini Rojo and Schweinsteiger
Others to go -Jones Young Carrick McNair,Blackett,Wilson,Valencia
He will try to keep Mata [fans favourite] Janusaj Pererira and Memphis .These three he will try and convert to his way for brownie points
to prove he is better with LVG
Definitley staying will be- De Gea Varela Fosu Mensah Smalling Shaw Borthwick - Jackson Schneiderlein Herrera Lingaard Rooney Rashford and Martial
Other youngsters with little experience will have to be evaluated
With his war chest he desperately needs two centre backs,a ball playing back to front midfielder and two strikers one bei8ng an out and out goalscorer

There you go Jose ,job done ,no charge ,make them great again :!:

He doesn't need to prove he's better than LvG, he did that when his inferior Inter side beat LvG's Bayern in the 2010 CL final and LvG admitted as much.

Mata was also a Chelsea fan's favorite and it didn't stop him being sold, he got rid of him yes because he doesn't really have the legs but also because Chelsea had a lot of similar options in that area, I do have a feeling he'll keep him though even if it's just a back up to Rooney. Valencia is also a keeper imo as is Fellani even if it's just to use him as a 75 minute sub when chasing the game. He won't care about bringing youngsters through despite United's reputation for doing so, I expect it'll be a fairly cynical exercise in getting you back into the top four again and if he can buy ready made players to do that he will.

One manager better than the other based on one match. I'm afraid I can't see the logic of that. Mourinho is clearly the more successful manager of the two, based on several long term factors.

^I'm not disputing JM has been more successful, clearly he is. I'm disputing Dell's perhaps off the cuff assertion that he'll get players to work for him (that didn't work out for LvG) just to prove he's a better coach. He won't need to prove it because I'm sure he knows and believes it, no better example of getting a lesser talented team to achieve way beyond the sum of it's parts was his Inter side particularly against Barcalona and Bayern of that Champions League year.

Janusaj Pererira and Memphis are 3 players LVG didn't rate and Jose will hope to revert that.
Mourinho gets players to buy in to his plans and all I am saying one two or three of these players will benefit from that approach

Didn't LVG spend £25m on Memphis and weren't you one of the posters saying he was a great signing?
A joyless arsehole.
