I'm interested in the thread. It's enjoyable and triggers debate like it says on the tin. . I actually agree with some of your views on how screwed up the global economy is and the political landscape both here and abroad. Rather than buying physical gold people have been buying contracts to buy gold - the only problem is that the same piece of gold has been sold several hundred times over.
