Sorry I'm late with this, but last night I tuned in and there were two women Shot-putters, one of whom was munching away on a pork-pie; the Brit, as it happened.
Shot-putters, admittedly, don't have the body-shape of pre-pubescent gymnasts, but it was just such a funny moment to see as the first thing. Yeah, well done, camera-director, to show THAT, and confirm the prejudice of just-as-fat men viewers.

The other thing was the Mascot [just shoot them through the head, with bullets] who leapt out from behind the Qualifying Sofa to scare a lady 200m runner. Do that to the men, cunt! You won't, though, will you?

How lovely it was to see the Netherlands women victorious in the 4x400 relay, having been way behind at the first change.
Pity the Netherlands men had to barge in front of the cameras, stealing their glory, but there you go.

Can women have nothing of their own?

That's the problem with having the men's race before the women. I can't recall, offhand, the women hogging the cameras when it was the other way round. Maybe they did ... but in modern times it's not a good look. To my eyes it looks as if women have to be somehow validated by men, or else it doesn't count.
