There is a saliva DNA from the holiday flat the Portuguese police have already ruled out the suspect with.
The german police have asked to test it again and the potuguese won't give them it.
Both forces use the same methods to test.
It has turned very political

Thanks, as you say, it does look a little as if someone is leaning on someone to finally close the matter and nail someone for it, if they could convict next doors cat I reckon they would.

An ex-colleague of mine got his allotment dug over.
They never found anything - we all thought he was too clever to put her there.

I'm finding it rather amusing to hear the BBC describing the cellar as 'secret', there is nothing 'secret' about these cellars, they are commonplace in mainland Europe, they are used to store root crops. My father dug one on the land he rented at the back of our house, the neighbours couldn't understand why he was digging this square hole six feet deep and they were even more perplexed when he started putting a roof on it and putting the dug out soil on the roof, eventually the grass grew over it and all it looked like was a bump on the ground.
We used it for the potatoes and home made wine, mind you, you sometimes had to open the door to let the rats out before you went in, and no, it wasn't in the middle of no where, it was bang in the middle of one of the villages 3 miles from Hull.

I saw one report that said that this 'secret' cellar was simply the cellar of a house which was demolished some years ago, and become covered over since.
Apparently the suspect had lived in the house at some point.
