So has Murray not given service to the sport? Do you think Kyle Edmond would be in the top 20 without the support of Murray, inviting him to his pre season training camps for several winters when he was a developing player? He mentors young sports stars such as Katie Swan. I'm pretty sure he's done plenty for charities, such as his annual fundraising match in Glasgow every autumn.

In what universe would anyone (even a brain dead chimp, tbf) think he should suddenly be stripped of an honour because he has a long term injury and can't play Wimbledon this year?

It's the Lou-Lou way. We are so blessed with his immense knowledge and expertise on these subjects we are not worthy to comment, and he takes offence if anyone dares to spoil his thread with anything resembling humour or banter. The Philip Cross of Talkforum.

Is that a reply to my post? If it is, where does it say that I don't think that Murray has not done enough service to his sport, or enough for charities to earn his gong? Point it out.

I was saying that was what they are usually awarded for. I think that in this day an age, where honours are handed out like the chucking of a handful of confetti he's on a par with others.

The first part of my post was to you, the second obviously not.

Getting back on track, Dan Evans SF due to start at 11 (weather permitting). Could be fun.

As usual you feel the need to make a prickly snide response. Precious little wall-flower aren't you ?

Another top match. Evans wins in 3. Into the final in Nottingham. 16 wins since his return to the tour.

Wildcard for Queens next week.

Back with a bang.

'Dan Evans: Top Spins and Toots' should be his autobiography title.

Interesting alternate bill to the footie today over in Nottingham - Heather Watson (Doubles final), Dan Evans (men's final) & Jo Konta (women's final). From 11.00.

The void of British tennis without Andy Murray that Del predicted continues. :)

Alternatively, Federer dismantling Raonic in Germany is at 12, for Lead-o.

What's the quality like in this tournament Lou.

The three matches I have watched have all been brilliant. The quality of the final against the rising star De Minaur (with De Minaur taking the first set in a tie breaker) has been really high.

For Dan Evans to win 16/19 matches after a year with no competitive tennis is remarkable. Watch him at Queens next week - I'd say aside from fitness issues after a year out, he's playing pretty much to the level that he was when he was in the top 50.

Murray cruises to the first set v Krygios at Queens . No sign of jip from the hip.
