The problem they have is that they (ex-pros and non playing presenters) have little gravitas in the world. Therefore, you have two options:

1) You can go down the Alvin Martin/ Matt Holland/ Paul Hawksbee/ Danny Kelly route of being players/ presenters who had decent careers, are reasonable men and don't need to shout/ wind up/ banter all the time then moan about "haters".

Or 2) Make a name for yourself by talking complete shite, know you are doing it then double down and convince others they are in the wrong here.

Unfortunately we don't have enough people like Darren Bent who were good players and likeable with it.

Another problem, on this here site, is that many people judge punditry on the basis of the team they used to play for.
Perry Groves, for example. I've always found him a good listen; he seems happy to be there, and isn't one-eyed in a Quinn sense, but there's always someone who says "fucking Gooner".
