Re: Saggers
Lots of hushed tones tonight with Michael Calvin.
Although this is an interesting topic (for me), I can't help thinking that a few years on, what Michael Calvin has done is to repeat what Chris Green did with Every Boys Dream a few years back.
Green was on H&J and has been on since but the way Saggers talks about Calvin's book, it's as if he has come up with something new, in exposing all the goings on at the academies, which he hasn't.

Re: Saggers
Ten, do these shows ever actually achieve anything? I think the topic is interesting but are any clear plans to change put forward? Just seems a time-filler whilst the season is finished rather than an exposing of a topic and subsequent improvement in standards.

JW, see my response to your post in the Durham thread.
My answer is a disappointed NO because the shows have no structure.
I think they are satisfied for just having all these people on talking; I don't think the goal of the programme is actually to make any suggestions on improvement and that's not necessarily a bad thing but at least, as I point out in the other thread, help us listeners by defining the problems better,

Yeah, that was David Conn and his book.
I like Conn's work but it all got a bit romanticised and self centred in that interview - how much we LOVE football etc.
