Line manager went ballistic because I won't increase my notice period (it's been 1 month ever since I started) and said that I'm leaving him and the company "in the shit".

Bit late for that, matey...

You don’t ention another job, Sub.

Have you got one lined up?

Best of luck whatever you are doing, pal :drinkers:

Hi, Pet.
Yep, next role already lined up, but I have two weeks off between jobs.
First week will be chilling, playing a bit of golf etc, then me and Mrs Subsub off to Devon for a week.
Cannot wait, and the perfect chance to relax before new job starts :D
Those two weeks should be spent in quiet guilty contemplation about how you've left your previous employer "in the shit", you flibbertigibbet. [-(

Seriously though having something concrete lined up should be the very first thing in place before quitting a job, except in extreme circumstances.

Good luck with the new one, Sub. Hope you won't have to work the day of the European Cup Final though.

Nah, was never going to quit without having something lined up first.
Been looking for nearly a year, but was happy to wait for the right one, and hopefully this is it :D

There is nowt to beat a bit if R & R then taking up a new challenge.

Any travelling round vineyards in the new situation?
Alex Young, Howard Kendall, Andy King, Timmy Cahill, Dixie Dean and Mike Parry.....we'll never see the likes of them again.

Top man, Subsub.

A wee trip to Kiev on the cards?

Nothing better than leaving a shitey job behind and a bunch of bitter lemons foaming at the mouth.

Enjoy the break and good luck, bigman.

When I had that soul crushing job in the call centre, the day I handed in my notice I was practically skipping all day. I had my present job lined up for the following monday. As it was a iffily legal, almost boilerroom-ish call centre I only told them I wasn't coming back the Friday before and fuck them and finished off that day (I was meant to work Saturday). The only reason I finished the Friday was that I wanted to get at least nearly a weeks pay to tide me over the lying week at my new job.

Not tempted to leave a turd in your managers desk before you went then?

But seriously, hope it goes well for you.

No, is not drink-related and is office-based, but having had 15 years of writing about booze and going to events/tastings etc, kind of bored of that now.

Best bit is that it is 10/15-minute walk from my house, and they offer flexible times, so can do 8.30-5 or 9.30-6 etc, so most days will be home by half 5 (don't get home til about 8pm most nights at the moment - will make a hell of a difference)

Definitely the way to go Subs if you can, particularly if your boss is a cunt. I bet it felt good when he was whining on. :D

No, he's normally a really good bloke, which is why I was so surprised when he flipped. I presume he just panicked.
Had a good chat with him today, and he's fine.
But yeah, when was going off on one, I was thinking 'I'm out of here in ONE MONTH'

I've always been my own boss so I would just be quitting myself if I quitted really.
