We go up to Cumbria quite often because it's brilliant and if you have relatives you can kill two birds with one stone. A few years back, on the way we visited relatives in Lincolnshire and then went to York, Scarborough, Whitby, Goathland, then cut across on A66 to the Lakes. Very enjoyable indeed.

No Maude, when I say that is a fact, it is a fact, it is officially the worlds best place for fish and chips. I dont know who gives out these awards, but it is a thing.

Personally I think Hull is the greatest fish and chip dispensers of the world, what with us being a dock, specifically Bob carvers fishery, chips still cooked in beef dripping, still wrapped in newspapers. Bob died last month, bless him, but his faqmily business still goes on.

Landlord. Lowestoft is still a fishing poert, though only a few boats left, fresh fish in some chippys and a few good old smokehouses as well.

Not that I liike fish, but one thing we can and will agree on, is it is better, and even chips are better on the coast over the inlanders.

I know, but Hull is kind of based around fish, due it being so far away from anywhere else, hence our nickname codheads, before the 70s fish was the main thing people ate, and not meat. Chip shops are one of the main parts of our history. Also Hull is large, lowestoft is a village basically. There was a time when 70% of the whole countries fish input went through Hull.

Then the fish wars happened and everyone seemingly gave up and started taking heroin. Sad times.

As per before some lokel yokels blame a lot of the other crime and drugs, not just on Johnny Foreigner, good hard working Portuguese who labour hard still.

When I lived in Brum, our local chippy got the fish delivered in the middle of the night straight from Grimsby, and fresh in the newspaper the next day. I think it's natural to think your local oulet serves the best because they are so tasty you don't think anywhere else could be better.
