I had my eyes lasered 11 years ago after wearing specs for 30 odd years.
I highly recommend it.

This notion of 'perfect sight forever' if you get your eyes lasered is a myth.
Fine to get them done if you're 21, but if you wait til your 40s/50s, you can still become long-sighted.

Focusing on a book or newspaper becomes a problem with age,laser treatment won't stop that.
I can spot a chaffinch on a telephone wire from 200 yards though.
