A pikelet is a better flatter, squarer version of a crumpet

Oh, sounds nice. Is it like the toaster crumpets that you get from Kingsmill?

They are okay but not a lovely as proper crumpets dripping with salted butter.

Amen brother, the “giant” crumpets from warburtons are a joy to behold as well (you can squeeze two poached eggs on top if you’re careful) but don’t forget to slap two slices of ham on to compensate :-)

They are, sort of. Actually proper pikelets are really rare to find now, and they're griddle cakes rather than the made for Toaster crumpets of nowadays.

You won't find them outside of bakeries in Yorkshire nowadays, mores the pity, in my opinion they're a lot better than crumpets.
