Good Food

Post by Robert Heenan »

Hello

Im starting a thread on food so that posters can share information such as recipes and tips on where to acquire good ingredients and produce.

Im going to start it off with Hummus. Which supermarket sells the best hummus and is it easy to make?

Thanks

Not a fan though do like chick peas elsewhere, Bobby. Love cooking, many cookbooks, many recipes by nose, will post later.
Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Maybelline.

Thing is whenever ive bought supermarket hummus - it hasn't come anywhere near as good as what ive ate in restaurants. The best supermarket hummus i've ate is Waitrose's. The supermarket hummus seems so thick despite me putting olive oil in it and seasoning it with paprika and herbs etc.

The ones i eat from restaurants seems so light and tasty. How the hell can i get something like that and which supermarket sells em or is it id rather have to make it myself.

I had chickpea salad for first time last month - delicious!

Crayfish, Chicken and peanut butter going together as one dish - Doesn't at all appeal to me and to be honest id never heard of this dish until this thread.

I thought Brazilians tended to eat lots of beans with rice and meat.

Hummus? Just mash up a tin of chickpeas in a bowl. crush a glove of garlic and mash it in, season with salt and pepper (ground), drizel some virgin olive oil in, and a good squeeze of lime or lemon juice. piece of piss. (don't add the piss part). Oh, can add some finely chopped fresh chillies for a bit of a kick. Yours sincerly, DeliaCarc.

I've never ate it before

Would you say it's better tasting than lasagne?

Much better, Bob.

A load of calories in it though ; but really good. Lasagne base boiled pasta/veg in the middle and creamy cheese, on top. Lovely.
