Is TSB Bank any good, henry?

Henry hangs around with people who keep their cash in their foreskins.

Does this sound like the behaviour if a reliable financial advisor?

Got an appointment with my local Nationwide this Wednesday. Had to book an appointment since as I said, the local Natwest branch shut their doors and they have been overwhelmed with people wanting to swap banks.

Fair play to you mate. Don't be under any illusion tho, most the high street banks are the same, they'll treat you as a number only

First Direct by a country mile.
And if you must go to a branch, you can use HSBC just like an HSBC customer.

Resurrecting this thread to make a general point about Then vs Now.

When I was young you got a Loyalty Bonus, whereby sticking with the same firm made them grateful for your continued custom, and you got a little "thank-you" present.
Now, if you do that you're treated as some sort of idiot, who deserves to be punished for your stupidity in not switching every year.

I'm not entirely convinced, however, that this is a good business model, since the new customers you get THIS year because of the special rate you offer them will fuck off NEXT year, because of the special rate someone else offers, as opposed to the "cunt-rate" for anyone who hangs around.

No
First Direct has a far better record of customer retention than the rest.
Have a look at the Which reviews.
Actually it's amazing to me that anyone banks anywhere else.

I am in possession of YOUR Post Office Savings book, which indicates, according to its last entry, that you have eleven pounds, seven shillings and sixpence.

When the interest is added that should be about 200 grand.

Please advise by PM how you wish me to proceed.

Managed to get the switch and it was easy. Natwest didn't make it easy and they really didn't seem to care I was leaving. But what is done is done.
