I listened to the whole three hours, it was that good.
None of the usual "willies and bottoms" jokes, only one use of the "laughter" clip, and presenters that seemed to enjoy interacting with the callers, rather than treating them as an annoying distraction from the main business of shouting at each other. As an added bonus the guest interview was serious and informative, not just an excuse for matey-matey "banter".

Can't stand him. Apart from being more articulate than most on the station, he's just a jumped up twerp with a way too high opinion of himself. Also this has turned the fun H&J slot into just A.N.Other generic sports discussion show.

I doubt that H and especially J would be pleased if TS put in stand ins who might try to out H&J them.

The only show that out H&Js the original is when Kelly is on with AJ. That's the show I always want more of - Kelly knows just the right amount of teasing he can get away with, and does it in such a good natured way that even the notoriously grumpy Jacobs seems to embrace it.

The Owl is generally very good with people. That's why he's such a good interviewer with the Sporting Life shows.

Usually, I like them too but this afternoon, they seem to have drifted into an endless hyped up promotion of English football which I find irritating, if not infuriating.

We've had the usual cliches / statements like;

- PL is Best League in the World

- PL is so competitive

- Championship gets better attendances than 1st divisions of many other countries

Without entering into a dissection of these and other claims, what is the point in endlessly spouting this stuff?

Despite Simon Jordan saying that he 'spent lots of time in Spain', there is one fundamental reason that he, Kelly and most of us on here will never truly understand football in Spain and many of the other European countries; namely that he / we are not from there.

They might appreciate things from an intellectual perspective but not from any other.

DK was going on about the non leagues sides in Eastbourne and I know a bit about this subject having played at both Eastbourne Town and Eastbourne United when I was with Burgess Hill Town. But please, DK, do a bit of analysis of the lower leagues in other countries, regions and towns before forcing down our throats more of the uniqueness of the English pyramid as demonstrated, allegedly, by Eastbourne's football landscape.

Of course, its unique just as lower league football in Catalonia is unique as is non league football in Bavaria.

Are they doing this to bolster our defences or fragile football psyches in preparation for another seemingly inexplicably poor performances by England in next year's World Cup despite having all these allegedly 'World Class' players in the top PL teams?

From my ongoing reading of histories of the development in football in the other top footballing nations, it seems to me, that these other countries have plenty of interest, passion and football infrastructure to keep them all going regardless of whether Newcastle United got 22% possession against Manchester City or not.

Agreed, not the greatest show today. But at least he has a brain, which is more that can be said about most of the rest.
