Thing is, Cilic had to keep playing at his very best to win that 5th set and balls started to land a few inches out where before, they were landing in.

Before he knew it, he was 3-0 down and mentally, I imagine, he couldn't 'climb the mountain' again.

Federer just kept going, hoping that his groove, especially on serve, would see him through.

It's such fine margins at that level.

Fed now #2, Cilic #3.

Indeed, Paolo and that game might have gone the other way so easily.

I worried when Del announced there was 'an abyss' in British tennis without Andy Murray. And yet even without Andy Murray, Kyle Edmund and Dan Evans I see that our Davis Cup team are still going toe to toe with Spain out on the clay in Marbella.

Very impressed by what I saw of Cameron Norrie today - and I only saw the early part of the match, when he was losing.

Big day for Jamie Murray and Dom Inglot tomorrow. If they can win the doubles we might actually have a chance in this tie.

So you're another cunt that looks for a negative after an amazing sporting moment. Do you ever allow yourself to live in the moment and share in the joy of something fantastic?

Also to get in the GB team you don't need to be English and his half Welsh, half Scots roots are fine by me.

Or perhaps you're just upset that your predictions of doom in the post Murray era are looking as silly as your prognostications on the Man City season?

Yeah. Of course I believe you. You spend your whole existence being negative. Compare you reaction to that of Andy Murray.

I have a strong aversion to negativity and particularly for those who like to spread it for a living. Why are you always being such a twat on here? What do you actually get out of it at the end of the day?

I mean if you don't like tennis or don't care for the Davis Cup then just ignore the post - why go out of your way to be negative for the sake of it?

Another amazing effort from Cameron Norrie today. Likely to lose, but so much potential this young man has. Could be great to watch for a long time to come. Hope he builds from this.
