NFL Road to Superbowl LII and NtFL Games

Post by Carlos J »

Continuation from here: https://talkforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=25037 which is a continuation from here: https://www.talkforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=21147 which documents the last two seasons and NtFL games.

With the new season just over a week away, time for a new thread and new game.

Welcome to NtFL VII:

Rules and stuff from RM (though amended for dates):

This game will use the first 8 weeks of the NFL season, finishing in November. NtFL VIII will start in week 9 for 8 weeks. NtFL IX will be a post-season all in up to the Superbowl.

The first 6 weeks will be a straightforward league. The top 4 in the final table will make the Play-Offs (1st v 4th, 2nd v 3rd), to be played in week 7. Finally in week 8, the winners will compete for the NtFL Super Bowl VII crown.

Each week, I'll post 10 matches, taken from the Sunday and Monday fixtures, You will predict the outcome of each match. Your entry for a match needs to look like this, your bit in red:

New England Patriots v Pittsburgh Steelers: Patriots by 20

Or:

Patriots by 20

= So you predict the winning team and the margin of victory. If you get the winning team wrong, you get zero. If you get the winning team correct, you score points relating to how close you were to the margin of victory. If you're absolutely spot on, you get maximum points = 50. For every point you stray, you lose a point from 50. So if you are 8 points out, you score 42. If you are 20 points out, you score 30. If a match is tied after overtime, everyone gets zero. Do not predict a tie.

There are 500 points available each week (10x50) and 3,000 points are available across the 6 weeks of the league. People level on points in the league table will be separated by total number of winners predicted correctly, then best weekly score. If that is level, fuck it, a three way play-off.

You will post your predictions in this thread or by PM. There maybe PM reminders from me but I will post reminders in this thread. I will specify the deadline each week: it will always be SUNDAY, and normally 6pm.

Ha, Kev. :) I haven't even stuck the fixtures up yet, they'll be up by the weekend. First deadline will be 6pm, Sunday 10 September. So plenty of time to think of a good name, though sure some tF wag can help.

Good to have new players and watch out for some of the smartest Excel tables you have ever seen. 8)

Count me in Carlos can't wait for the start. Could be the Steelers year. [-o< Mind I'd be a tad more optimistic if Brady isn't around for the playoffs.
So, if there’s something you’d like to try
If there’s something you’d like to try
Ask me, I won't say no, how could I?

PMd Shedboy week 2 and 3 fixtures, but too confusing to put them here now, so leave them for later. Good stuff all in so far, and Serendipity, as per don't mind the Steelers, good blue collar team possibly, not sure, affected by watching 'The Deer Hunter' which has no mentions of American Football as I can remember, but small working towns.
