Portugal are stinking to watch. Just knew when they scored so early that would suck the life out of the game.

Russia had some nice moments, but didn't really trouble up front like in the first game.

NZ are playing well right now and causing the Mexican team some problems, although you fear as soon as Mexico (or sorry, if they) score then that'll be that.

The Mexican coach just screamed ´´MOTHERFUCKER´´ at the Englishman who is the All Whites football coach. :)

NZ did alright last night.

When you look at the All Whites team it's probably just as good, if not even better than the Socceroos on paper??!! Mexico had a second string side out, but they certainly didn't look that great - not compared to their first game - and did enough to win the game, but NZ had a lot of fight about them. It'll be interesting to see how they get on in the World Cup playoffs (against the fifth placed South American side) in November.

Australia v Cameroon at 4pm. A game that seems impossible to predict. Cameroon near enough flatter to deceive at every tournament and Australia looked a bit like no-hopers having the game of ther life against the Germans last time around.

Chile and Germany is the evening kick-off. A strong Chilean squad against a Germany B squad (Rudiger, Draxler, Mustafi, Can and Hector probably the most well-kent faces).

Hopefully two good games.

Hosts Russia crash out of the tournament after losing to Mexico. Putin will not be happy.

Russia are bloody awful and will be no better in a year's time. I watched the game in a pub here tonight which had about 12 people bothered about the match - and this was in a place really close to one of the World Cup stadiums. Russian people just don't give much of a fuck about football. Ice hockey and other winter stuff is their sport.

Just like England. A minor football nation yet a so called superpower who think that an outrageous show of patriotism when singing the national anthem will carry them forward to championship glory. It does not.

None of the first team plays outside Russia which really must impact on their quality, quite insular and miserable, run through a variety of different coaches, no real identity and are followed by a bunch of twats who kick off at forriners. The parallels with England are quite startling.

On football matters, NZ were hammered by Portugal who can turn it on. Not sure why the European Champions are largely ignored going into major tournaments. Aren't really if the same class as the team of the 1990s and 2000s who had the likes of Figo, Rui Costa and Deco but they're pretty solid.

That's the first thing I always think when Russia go out. I think ultimately though that as long as the team puff their chests out when they sing the national anthem, he's happy.

Endo, how good's your Russian? Is it a difficult language to master?

According to the Great Saggers Meltdown of December 2010, Putin had pulled a lot of strings to get the WC and for Sepp Blatter
to stitch up the English. It will an embarrassment if they don't progress beyond the group stage next summer.

Wouldn't surprise me if the Russian team got banned for systematic state sponsored drug taking.

Drug taking and they're still shit? At least during the Soviet era they were a solid and efficient side who were good to watch in spite of or because of the state sponsored drug taking.

Any team containing the world's best player will always have a chance.
