When every other QT audience member is and has been referred to what they were wearing or otherwise he was inappropriately referred to by his skin colour to identify him.
Bruce explained why she did so but it was inappropriate because he was spoken to and therefore treated differently because of that. No " race row" ensued, she apologised to him whether he was offended or not and the only folks getting in a tiz are the usual right wing rags wanting to give the Beeb a bash.

The story was an excuse for a load of white Daily Mail readers to tell us that it was perfectly OK

AKA a woke meltdown more like. It's the wokes who are melting, because someone with black skin was called er, someone with black skin.
The key here as usual is the black guy didn't give a shit, it's the precious wokees. Oh and the fact here was he was indeed a black guy.
No one should be harangued into a grovelling apology for stating facts.

Fiona Bruce made an inappropriate reference and was advised to apologise for it, and she's rightly done so. That would've drawn a sensible line under the matter but the likes of the daily fail have unsurprisingly utilised it to make its idiot readership foam at the mouth once again over another "end of days" yarn.Zambo wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 10:50 amAKA a woke meltdown more like. The Daily Mail aren't daft; these sorts of stories are catnip to their easily outraged readership. Ticks these boxes:
- BBC bashing
- woke/PC gone mad
- "you can't say anything these days!" stuff
The perfect story for them.

Re: Woke
Stating a fact should never be an inappropriate reference. She was 'advised' to apologise by her pathetic handwringing employers, and has nothing to do with which rags the report of the incident appears in.The Tick wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 11:42 amFiona Bruce made an inappropriate reference and was advised to apologise for it, and she's rightly done so. Question Time audience member who Fiona Bruce described as 'the black guy' breaks his silence and says presenter called him to say sorry... but he still wants to know WHY BBC deleted clip

Re: Woke
There was no need to use the audience member's skin colour as a point of reference. It never is used for anyone of white colour and isn't needed for someone of black colour, as did happen in this case.Zambo wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 12:17 pmStating a fact should never be an inappropriate reference. This oversight was rightly atoned for. The ones who keep banging the drum against this need to have their motives questioned.

Re: Woke
The only think she originally got wrong was calling him Sir. Well unless he has been knighted of course.
If the black guy wasn't offended then the wokees shouldn't have been. The types who watch programmes for the sole purpose of spotting shite like this or trawl publications for prejudiced anti stories are pathetic and need to get a life.

Using a person's skin colour to single them out from a crowd isn't an appropriate thing to do. Especially when there may be other people of the same kind colour within said crowd.
It's been sensibly dealt with, and the naysayers are only outraged that they can't get away with singling out anyone on racial terms. It's a typical gammon meltdown.

Re: Woke
I wondered when we'd get round to racism.
Bruce to the Tower
Must admit it took longer than usual though.
The BBC should contact all of the non white people in the audience and offer them counselling.

Re: Woke
Utter bollocks.
If dear Fiona had said something prejudiced or derogatory about the black guy, then by all means put her in the stocks, but she used the term to point out who had the floor, like bald man, or the woman with the wig on. Totally innocent until the Mary Whitehouses started to froth.
